High School GPA Calculator

Add each year (or semester) of high school to see your GPA per year and your overall weighted and unweighted GPA.

Your overall high school GPA

Your cumulative high school GPA is the average of every class on your transcript, weighted by credits. That's the number colleges see on your transcript.

Use one block per year or per semester — whichever matches your report cards. Each block shows its own GPA, so you can see how your grades trend over time. An upward trend looks great to admissions officers.

Frequently asked questions

+How do I calculate my high school GPA?

Add every class from every year, give each one its grade points (plus Honors/AP bonus for a weighted GPA), multiply by credits, add it all up and divide by total credits. This calculator does that across all your years at once.

+Which years count toward my GPA for college?

Most colleges look at 9th–11th grade when you apply, plus senior-year grades later. Some only use 10th–11th grade. Check each college's admissions page.

+Do middle school classes count?

Usually not, unless your school puts high-school-level classes (like Algebra I) taken in 8th grade on your transcript.

+What is a good high school GPA?

A 3.0 unweighted is around average. 3.5+ is strong, and selective colleges usually expect 3.8+ unweighted, or 4.0+ weighted with hard classes.
